This clock was donated to the Historical Society by Maureen Needham, the current Copemish Village President. The clock came with a plaque explaining its origins (see photo and text below):
GINGERBREAD CLOCK - CIRCA 1895
This Gingerbread Clock was donated to John and Clara Aubrey by the Village and local jeweler in October of 1895.
Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey were early Copemish settlers having moved to the area in 1884.
Fire had consumed the Aubrey home and as was customary in those days, everyone donated something to help neighbors get started again. Hence, this clock was given to John and Clara Aubrey.
This Gingerbread Clock is a gift to the Village of Copemish on October 14, 1996 by the great grandchildren of John and Clara Aubrey.
